New birds for Ubatuba and Ubatumirim.

This week a group of seedeaters was seen among which one was an adult male Yellow-bellied Seedeater. This appears to constitute the first record of the species for the municipality.

On the same day Elis photographed this Ruddy Quail-Dove at there; it has not been previously recorded there, but it may easily have been overlooked being very discreet.

18/10/2011 Av. Castelo Branco, Mogi das Cruzes, São Paulo. Bank Swallowandorinha-do-barrancoRiparia riparia. One bird seen hawking for insects with Blue and White Swallowandorinha-pequena-de-casaPygochelidon cyanoleuca and White-rumped Swallowandorinha-de-sobre-brancoTachycineta leucorrhoa, photographed. 21/10/2011 Ubatumirim, Ubatuba, São Paulo. Yellow-bellied SeedeaterbaianoSporophila nigricollis. A small group of female seedeaters was being accompanied by a male Yellow-bellied Seedeater. A single bird in the company of a Pectoral Sandpiper - maçarico-de-colete - Calidris melanotus, 3 American Golden Plovers batuiruçuPluvialis dominica, 7 Spotted Sandpipersmaçarico-pintadoActitis macularius and 21 Semipalmated Plovers - batuira-de-bandoCharadrius semipalmatus.

30/10/2011 Saltmarsh, Paraty, Rio de Janeiro. Hudsonian Godwit - maçarico-de-bico-viradoLimosa haemastica still present as wee the 3 American Golden Plovers batuiruçuPluvialis dominica, 7 Spotted Sandpipersmaçarico-pintadoActitis macularius and 15 Semipalmated Plovers - batuira-de-bandoCharadrius semipalmatus. In addition there were 5 Ruddy Turnstone – vira-pedras – Arenaria interpres. There was also a small group of Whistling-Ducks comprising 3 species; 2 Black-bellied Whistling-Ducks – asa-branca – Denrocygna autumnalis, 2 White-faced Whistling-Ducks – irerê – Dendrocygna viduata and 3 Fulvous Whistling-Ducks – marreca-caneleira – Dendrocygna bicolor. All were unrecorded for the municipality on WikiAves and the latter in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Also BR101 Ubatuba, São Paulo.
