01/06/2011 Rua Paulo Setúbal, Itaguá, Ubatuba, São Paulo. Red-ruffed Fruitcrow – Pavó - Pyroderus scutatus. Adult found dead having hit a window. There have been a number of these birds reported in the town area feeding on fruiting Juçara Palms.
02/06/2011 Near to USP, Ipiranga, São Paulo. Buff-necked Ibis – curicaca – Theristicus caudatus. An individual found in the centre of the city in a busy area by Raquel Colombo Oliveira.
13/06/2011 Rio Grande, Rio Grande do Sul. Willet – Maçarico-de-asa-branca – Tringa semipalmata. Two, presumably first year birds, at a marsh on the shore of Lagoa dos Patos. Found and photographed by Rafael Dias, Rick and Elis Simpson. This could be the first documented record for the state.
26/06/2011 Folha Seca, Ubatuba, São Paulo. Black-backed Tanager – saíra-sapucaia - Tangara peruviana. A male seen and photographed at Folha Seca. This is the only record we know of where this species has been obseved away form or close to feeding stations. Observed by Rick and Elis simposn and David Bates. Photographed by Elis Simpson.
27/06/2011 Marsh, Paraty, Rio de Janeiro. Rufous-chested Dotterel – batuira-de-peito-tijolo – Charadrius modestus. A single bird found and photographed on the marshy area in front of the old church, feeding in the grass at high tide. Very approachable.
